OFFENSE Anthony Russo, the starting quarterback for much of the last three seasons, has transferred to Michigan State. At the end of last season, the Owls were forced to use a true freshman walk-on, as they dealt with a variety of adverse circumstances. Re-al Mitchell, who came from Iowa State, started a couple of games before getting injured. Redshirt freshman D’Wan Mathis was Georgia’s opening-day starter a year ago. The duo will battle for the starting job. Tayvon Ruley got the bulk of the work at running back in the second half of the season and is back for a fifth year.
