An astonishing number of privately funded contemporary art museums and nonprofit organizations have sprung up in Shanghai within the past decade. These include the Long Museums, the Yuz Museum, K11 Art Foundation, the Shanghai Himalayas Museum, and OCAT Shanghai. The latest newcomer to arrive on the scene is the Fosun Foundation (FF), an art center which opened in 2016. It is headed by Jenny Wang, who is chairwoman and president of the center’s managing body, also called Fosun Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2012 with a primary mission geared toward domestic charity and public welfare, including providing medical care and pharmaceuticals to victims of environmental disasters in areas of rural China.
