Jin-Goon Kim made a lasting impression— and not only because I first spoke with him at length on the day Donald J. Trump won the US presidential election. Rather, it was the way his eyes sparkle when he discusses art. Kim is an unassuming investor from South Korea who works in the high-stakes world of private equity and venture capital. Dressing conservatively, he blends in perfectly in Hong Kong’s Central District, which made it somewhat difficult to identify him when we met for coffee at the American Club in early November.
