Bangkok University Gallery ALLERGIC REALITIES Kosit Juntaratip’s “Allergic Realities” included reproductions of 20 iconic photographs capturing historic incidents of violence, ranging from World War I to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Some images depicted the moments before the violence erupted, while others portrayed the aftermath. An underlying thread that connected these selections was the extent of their dissemination in global media, especially on the internet. The artist’s chosen time frame reflected the media’s transition from film to digital photography. These were familiar images that still shape our perception and understanding of our place in modern history. Though true to the original photographs in composition, these images were reproduced on canvas with a rosewood tint and heavy film grain.
