Full suit of lamellar armour in Late Antique grave

Archaeologists have recently discovered the grave of an Avar warrior containing a full suit of lamellar armour near the village of Ebes in eastern Hungary. The grave, dated to the first half of the seventh century AD, was found in November 2023. The contents of the grave were removed from the grave site in one block, except for the bones of a horse which was buried atop the deceased warrior, allowing excavators to carefully unearth the grave goods. In addition to the warrior’s quiver, bow, and sword, the excavators believe they have found a full suit of lamellar armour within the grave.
