Siouxernes høvding Red Cloud

Høvding Red Cloud blev respekteret af sit folk - og af sine fjender. Han blev født i Nebraska i 1822 og voksede op hos sin onkel, høvding Smoke. Red Cloud blev en berømt kriger i kampene mod andre fjendtlige stammer, I 1865 byggede USAs hær en række forter langs en rute, der gik lige gennem siouxlandet. Red Cloud var bange for den hvide trussel, og indianerne angreb flere forskellige forter. Under Red Clouds ledelse fik indianerne deres største succeser mod den amerikanske hær. Red Cloud døde i 1909 i Pine Ridge Reserve. Red Cloud respekteredes af både venner og fjender.…
